We would like to take the opportunity to spotlight a new community group in the Lanarkshire area – Lanarkshire Pride CIC.
Lanarkshire Pride is a new organisation set up in support of the LGBTQ+ community in Hamilton. So far this year they have run the first ever Pride Parade in Hamilton, as well as events on the towns Quarry Street, and a fundraiser at the Townhouse theatre. They are aiming to bring this successful and important event back annually.
In addition, Lanarkshire Pride has big plans for 2025. They are currently working on a new project “Pride Connect” which, funding allowing, should be off the ground by early 2025. This project aims to be a new weekly drop-in service for LGBTQI+ young people aged 16-24 in South Lanarkshire. Pride Connect aim is to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for young people to connect, share experiences, and access vital resources. The aim is to create a space where LGBTQ+ youth can be themselves without fear of judgment or prejudice.
At St Philip’s we believe that every young person deserves a space where they can relax and express their truest self. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Pride Lanarkshire!
